Tobermorey Station has a long and rich history which spans back to the early 1900's when Mr Robert Anderson became the first pastoralist to hold the lease over Tobermorey Station.

Mr Anderson passed in 1923 suffering a heart attack and falling from his horse. This spot is marked by a monument to remember the founder of Tobermorey.

The Anderson family parted with Tobermorey in the 80's and since then it has changed hands a few times. Tobermorey is now owned by John & Bill Speed and their families.

The house, which is occupied by the owners when they come to visit, also houses the shop and camp kitchen. It was built by Jack McDonald of Townsville around 1914 and was originally two stories.

Tobermorey Station is 5994 sq. km. The property is 40kms wide and 180km long, with the Simpson Desert forming the southern boundary.
